Step 2 - Measuring your windows for Vertical Sliders

When placing your enquiry, we highly recommend you follow the measuring instructions as detailed below. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept responsibility for any problems which may arise from the supply of inaccurate information.

To assist with the measuring and installation tolerences, we suggest you allow 10mm clearance which will accommodate inaccuracies within the structure of the window. You may wish to allow less than 10mm but please be advised this may require some additional installation work. If in any doubt please contact us.

Units are supplied fully assembled, pre-drilled and installation ready, edging trims are included, but not fixing screws. Units are supplied as standard on a face fix frame fitted with 4mm clear float glass. Alternative glass specifications are available on request, e.g. Pilkington K, Toughened, 6.4mm laminated or Stadip Silence acoustic glass.

Where an enquiry is specifically requiring noise insulation, we would recommend a minimum of 6mm glass, which can be further enhanced by 6.4mm laminated and further still by 6.4mm Stadip Silence glass. In addition we would recommend (subject to the existing window design) that a reveal fix frame option be chosen, this will enable the secondary glazed unit to be fixed to the side walls of the window reveal rather than to the face of the window frame. This will allow a larger air-gap between the two panes of glass; this is by far the most significant factor in sound insulation. An air-gap of 100mm to an optimum 150mm is advised (increasing this gap will continue to reduce noise levels but to a lesser audible degree).

IMPORTANT; Building Regulations demand that if a window is below 800mm from the internal floor or 300mm from a door, toughened or laminated glass must be specified and installed.

Should you have any queries or concerns regards the measuring, installation or specification details then please contact us. Should you be able to supply digital photographs this would greatly assist us with your query.
