The original timber used in the window will be far superior to anything available today and being original helps maintain the character of your property. A newly installed window in uPVC may be more practical in term of maintenance but is simply not appropriate for period properties and could possibly detract from the value of the property. Furthermore if the property is a listed building, or is in a conservation area, double-glazed primary window replacement may not be an option due to building and conservation regulations. In addition whilst replacing the primary window may be possible, preserving the glass may not.
