Secondary Glazing v uPVC Double Glazing

To retain the original character of traditional windows, it is often a consideration to replace the original single glazed glass with a double glazed sealed panel. This will provide some thermal enhancement, however, it is usually fairly minimal as it does not prevent draughts or heat loss through the frame structure. The air gap in the sealed unit can only be a few millimetres to enable the unit to fit within the existing frame (Low E coatings will not function). This is known to have a poor insulating quallty. Also, there are no soundsproofing benefits to be gained by this procedure.
